• About Scoil Rince Ni Riada

    Scoil Rince Ni Riada (Skoal Reen-ka Knee Ree-uh-duh) Irish Dance: Las Vegas was founded in 2013 by director, Tara Reid ADCRG, and is open for students of all ages and skill levels.
    We offer beginner through championship solo classes, beginner and advanced ceili/performance classes for dancers ages 5-adult.
    Dancers learn in a fun and energetic environment and the concepts and skills that our dancers learn can be applied throughout their lives. Our classes are taught by an experienced and fabulous home grown staff of a certified adjudicator, certified teachers and teachers studying for certification. We have a TA program that helps to connect and bond our up and comers with our advanced dancers. If competition interests you, our competitive solo and team dancers worked their way up the ranks and have placed in the top 10 at our regional qualifiers and have qualified for the National and World Championships! While dance is a subjective sport, their placements are a direct reflection of their goals, work ethics, and team work with their teachers and fellow dance mates. While competition teaches many important life skills and lessons, we do not require it to be a student. We balance out solo dancing with ceili dancing. Ceili dances are social dances that have been passed down the generations-some of them from 1500 AD! They range from groups of 4 dancers to 16 and are danced at social functions as well as at competitions and are danced the world over. We have fun getting our dance parents and members of the public up for these dances at our parties and performances. I think they are surprised by how easy and fun it is to partake in these dances. Competitively, our Under 15 mixed 4 hand placed 7th at our regional championships in 2023 and our other teams were right on the cusp of placing. We were super excited to see each team's progress and their growth in performance on stage.
    Our performance team has performed all over the valley and beyond, from parades and festivals, to weddings and corporate events, to The Smith Center with The Chieftans and the Henderson Pavilion with The High Kings and Solas! We have an annual tour where we perform for assisted living facilities, schools, and hospitals. This day(s) is often the most rewarding of all of our yearly performances. We are involved with the Sons and Daughters of Erin and the Las Vegas Celtic Society and enjoy performing at their events.
    Scoil Rince Ni Riada Irish Dance: Las Vegas aims to take every student where they desire to go- whether it be for fun and exercise, performance, competition, or all of the above. We are a big family here, and we work to build each other up to be the best we can be and to achieve any goals that we set. If you believe, you CAN achieve! Our support system is second to none.   • Tara Reid, ADCRG

    Founder, Director, and Lead Teacher Tara Reid has been Irish dancing since she was 5, when she took her first dance class from her Aunties' school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Born and raised in the Kansas City area, her mother, Christine O'Riada, formed an Irish dance club at her grade school shortly before opening the O'Riada Academy of Irish Dance. Tara has placed at regional and national events, qualified for and danced at the World Championships, and danced professionally. Tara accepted a job in Las Vegas dancing with Sin E Ri Ra at the New York New York Hotel and Casino in 2006 and moved to Las Vegas. 18 years later, Tara is still dancing, albiet mainly just on weekends, with the band that brought her to Vegas. She studied for her TCRG while teaching with the Martin Percival School of Irish Dance and received that certification in 2009. Upon his retirement in 2013, she opened up Scoil Rince Ni Riada Irish Dance: Las Vegas, in honor of her mum who passed away just a couple of months prior. In 2017, the school moved into their first studio space and moved a few doors down to their beautiful, and current, studio space at 7024 West Charleston Blvd in 2021. Tara received her adjudicators certification in 2020 and has been around the country judging competititions ever since. She loves being a part of the process of dancers realizing their love of Irish dance. As a teacher, she prides herself on being able to work with a dancer to set goals, work towards them, and achieve them. This is a sport where teachers will often teach their dancers from kindergarten to high school graduation and beyond and she takes seriously the life lessons students learn at her school as well as her part in supporting their overall growth.
